WOOF General Projects

These are projects that WOOF members are working on to help forward the world of 3D printing! The results from these projects add to WOOF's resources, and provide building blocks for later projects!

THE PROJECTS

Printing a boat for the Seafair Milk Jug Derby

This is what really kicked off WOOF, and set us apart! We printed the world's first recycled HDPE boat back in July 2012. Now it's time to do it all again!

To join this project, stop by the WOOF room on a Monday, from 4:30 to 5:30, or send an email to woofboat@uw.edu

Building a 3D scanner

Want to be immortalized in plastic? Do you want to figure out how to hop from the real world, to digital, and  back again? WOOF is working on a 3D scanner that will make this science fiction into science fact.

To join this project, stop by the WOOF room on a Monday, from 4:30 to 5:30, or send an email to woofscanner@uw.edu

Building a club wiki

WOOF has done a lot of research on Big Red and large format printing. We need a place to put this, and we need your help to do so! A club wiki will keep all of our important information easily accessible to everyone!

To join this project, stop by the WOOF room on a Monday, from 4:30 to 5:30!

Post processing of printed parts

Are you just not getting the quality you want out of your 3D printer? This group is looking into different ways of smoothing out your printed parts. Acetone dipping, vibratory tumbling, and good ol' fashioned sandpaper are the current ideas, but we'd love to hear any other input.

To join this project, stop by the WOOF room on a Monday, from 4:30 to 5:30, or send an email to woofprocessing@uw.edu

Building a mechanical computer

Digital computers are a thing of the past! Help design a mechanical computer, just for fun!

To join this project, stop by the WOOF room on a Monday, from 4:30 to 5:30!

*Insert your great idea here!*

WOOF wants to hear from you, our members! If you want to lead a project, get on it! All a project needs to be official is 1 (one) project lead. If you submit a budget proposal, WOOF may be able to help fund the project as well! So print out some thinking caps and come with some ideas! We'd love to hear them!
